Lander is one of the top programs in Division II. 2025-26: fifth straight Conference Carolinas championship (43-3 semifinal over No. 2 East seed Belmont Abbey, then the title match at UNC Pembroke), third straight West Division title, and a fourth straight NCAA Super Region II championship won at home on Feb. 28 with a tournament-record 165.0 team points and nine national qualifiers. The Bearcats also went 21-3 with wins over No. 19 Newberry (25-12), No. 10 Glenville State (35-10), No. 19 UMary (21-19) and No. 13 St. Cloud State (22-9); their three losses were to No. 1 Central Oklahoma (6-30) and No. 3 UW-Parkside (6-30) at the NWCA National Duals in Cedar Falls, where they finished fourth, and 16-20 at Life. They were seventh at the Midwest Classic. 2024-25: Conference Carolinas champions (29-13 over Belmont Abbey, 34-10 over King in the final), NCAA Super Region II champions with 157.0 points and eight qualifiers, and 16-4 in duals with losses to Ashland, Glenville State, Grand Valley State and Life. Head coach R.C. LaHaye was named Super Region II Coach of the Year on Feb. 27, 2026. Lander's own release states the Bearcats 'have finished among the nation's top five teams in each of the past four seasons' and that Lander 'has now had at least one wrestler compete in the final session of the tournament in every season except the first two in program history' and 'boasts four total national champions.'
